Hello Screenerpeeps.

I know it's been a long time since any communication has come from #Screeners HQ.  Well... it's been a bit crazy.  Not bad crazy, just... crazy.  So much so, that today I have to bring some unwelcome news.

#Screeners will be closing it's doors for a while.

Why?

Well... for the last 4 years, #Screeners has been primarily a family run group: Myself, my wife and daughter and good friend Stew.  The last 6 months has been a big time of change for all of us.  Stew has taken on a new career.  I have taken on a new business venture.  The time we used to be able to put into #Screeners has just not been there the way we would like.

When we started #Screeners it was with the goal of NOT becoming one of those groups that was just a collector group or a dump for images that fit our theme.  We wanted to promote the art and artists and celebrate the art of poster making.  Over the last year, we have not been able to meet that goal, and have become what we least wanted to be.  And so... we have decided until we could dedicate the time to the group and the artists again... we would close our doors.

We sincerely hope within the year to be back in the swing, and bring #Screeners back to the dream we once had.

The saddest point of all for us, is having to cancel this year's Epic Movie Poster Contest.  This contest has been such a labor of love for us, and to not hold it is disappointing to our entire staff.  But... the treatments are written, and when #Screeners re-opens - we will open it with a new and improved EMP Contest.

So... although we will no longer be accepting new submissions for the time being.  We hope you will all keep the group on your members list.  And.. from time to time go through the galleries, and fave the art, and visit the artists.  #Screeners has been blessed over the years to attract some of the most amazing poster and graphic artists on DA.

And don't write us off.  We'll be back.

Fan Art Collective presents: "True Blood Season 6 Poster/Promo/Cover Contest"

It's always fun to see the series of new posters and promos the creative minds over at HBO come up with each year.
Now it's your turn to make posters and promos for the 6th season of True Blood or a book cover for the newest and last Sookie Stackhouse Novel "Dead Ever After".
Last year's I-LOVE-TRUE-BLOOD Season 5 Poster Contest had over 90 entries, so please don't be afraid to pass the word about this year's TRUE BLOOD SEASON 6 POSTER CONTEST with your friends on DA, twitter, facebook, tumblr, and any other art communities, forums or chat rooms you may be a member of.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

All mediums of True Blood Fan art are eligible except for, icons, stamps, small gif's, and stock.
ALL POSTERS MUST HAVE BEEN CREATED IN 2013 OR WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE . You may update and revamp a new version of a previous poster as long a the poster was created in AFTER the finale of season 5, but the below stated rules regarding logos/slogans/dates still apply.

You have a choice of 3 types of entries:

1. Make a poster or promo for the upcoming season 6 of True Blood:
    a. The posters/promos must feature one (1) or more characters from the regular cast or new characters from the upcoming season, True Blood related props and symbols (blood bags, vials of v, fairies, witches, wolves, shifters, graveyards, bloodsplatter, fangs etc.), typography, vectors or anything else True Blood related ...
      b. Posters should be vertical or portrait shaped. Promos should be horizontal or landscape shaped. You may make a wallpaper as a promo as long as rule "a." is followed.
     c. ALL POSTERS AND PROMOS MUST HAVE THE TITLE LOGO OF 'TRUE BLOOD' (there's a few styles to pick from in our 'True Blood Drink-Logos-Text Art-Props STOCK' folder @ [link] ) SOMEWHERE ON THE POSTER/PROMO FOLLOWED BY THE PREMIERE DATE (to be announced - we'll update you when we know) OR THE YEAR 2013, COMING IN JUNE (?), SEASON 6, SUMMER 2013 ... SLOGANS LIKE "EVOLVE" "WAITING SUCKS" (the official slogan for season 6 has not yet been annouced - we'll update you when we know)  OR ANY OTHER SLOGANS YOUR WICKED MINDS CONCEIVE CAN BE ADDED AT YOUR DISCRETION. ALL POSTERS MUST HAVE BEEN CREATED OR UPDATED IN 2013 OR WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE.

2. Make an advertisement poster or promo for Merlotte's Bar and Grill, Fangtasia, The Fairy Nightclub, Bon Temps Tourism, Tru : Blood Synthetic Blood Beverage,  an Anti/Pro V (vampire blood) Public service announcement, etc.
     a. ALL ADVERTISEMENT POSTERS AND PROMOS MUST HAVE A TITLE LOGO OF 'TRUE BLOOD' (there's a few styles to pick from in our 'True Blood Drink-Logos-Text Art-Props STOCK' folder @ [link] ) SOMEWHERE ON THE PROMO/POSTER FOLLOWED BY THE PREMIERE DATE (to be announced - we'll update you when we know) OR THE YEAR 2013, COMING IN JUNE (?), SEASON 6, SUMMER 2013.      a. ALL BOOK COVERS MUST HAVE THE TITLE "Dead Ever After" AND THE AUTHOR'S NAME CHARLAINE HARRIS. ALL COVERS MUST HAVE BEEN CREATED IN 2013 OR WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE.

Only ten (10) contest entries of fan art per person.
I have made a special folder for the entries. All entries should be submitted into the folder titled "OPEN: ILTB's SEASON 6 POSTER-PROMO-COVER CONTEST" Only art pieces submitted into that folder are eligible.
You do not have to be a member to enter but it would be cool if you were. All members, contributors, and admins are eligible to enter fan art except for myself (riogirl9909) and co-founder PowlaM since we are hosting this year's contest.
Contest entries will be accepted from March 24th, 2013 through June 24th, 2013
Voting begins June 25th, 2013 and ends July 8th, 2013.
Each member, contributor and admin will get 3 votes each to vote on the 3 True Blood fan art promos/posters/covers they most fancy.
Only one prize per person even if you have submitted more than one entry - if you have submitted more than one entry the piece with the most number of votes will be awarded the prize.

Hello out there in Screenerland

It seems we have been so busy with non-cyber life, that the expiration for our Premium Membership went by without us noticing. *fail*

No worries... we are not going anywhere, and will have our membership status back online as soon as we have the scratch.    If you would like to help us out, there is a donation pool on my homepage ~LordIlpilazzo  Every little bit helps.

We promise - even though it has been pretty quiet around here (no new journals, challenges, etc.) since the end of the last Epic Movie Poster Contest, we are still actively welcoming new submissions and voting on them every day.  We certainly have not been slowing down.   In fact... our membership has been increasing every week!   It's just that our managing staff has had a lot going on in the last 6 months or so.  

~mantleclinic has embarked on an exciting new career change.  
~ccdsmith and I have moved to a new house, and are currently rehearsing a play we will be starring in together.  When that play completes... I'll be directing another.  And I have also started a new photography and graphic design business called Tempus Fugit Design.  Those who have been with #Screeners for a long time may know where the name comes from

So... busy.

All that said - we are still actively working on a project very close to #Screeners heart:  The 2013 EPIC MOVIE POSTER CONTEST! - Starting July 1st

We are about to start the fundraising for this year's prizes.
We have most of the treatments  either outlined or in a working draft.
We have been revamping some of the rules so we can have a more level playing field for contestants.  The most notable change, will be the winning categories.  Instead of having winners 1st - 5th for best poster, we will have 1st - 3rd in multiple categories.  So far those categories are DIGITAL and TRADITIONAL art.  The best SERIES category will stay in tact.  And of course, the more prizes we can raise... the more special categories can be created and won.

We will have much more info on the contest starting in late April, Early May.

Well... that's all for now.  I just wanted to let you know #Screeners is alive and well - and we still want to stick to our mission of being the biggest and best supporter of entertainment driven poster and cover design.
